Stephen K.Hayes was a student of Shoto Tanemura of the Genbukan and Unsui Manaka of the Jinenkan, as well as one of the first non-Japanese students of Masaki Hatsumi of the Bujinkan.
He was instrumental in spreading the Takumatsuden School to the West under the pretext of ninjutsu.
While he has many detractors inside the organizations mentioned above, his value to their institutions cannot be overstated.
To-Shin Do was initially designed as a basic self-defense training that would prepare pupils to learn the traditional tactics linked with the Bujinkan.
Since then, it has evolved into an art form in its own right, incorporating methods and teachers from other disciplines like as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to improve the overall quality of its practitioners’ skills in a modern context.
