Archive : Joe Sugarman – The Lost Sugarman Tapes
After pestering Joe Sugarman for 5 years, I now have them in my hands.
They’re in bad shape. The illumination is inadequate. The audio quality is poor. By all means, this is not a professional recording.
To make matters worse, a TV advertisement was taped over half of one of the 21 recordings. (yikes!)
Yes, the original recording was terrible. I’m having them digitally upgraded as much as can, but none of that really matters. What’s on them is what actually matters. You wouldn’t mind if you found a collection of scrolls containing the knowledge of the centuries that were a little ragged and damaged, would you?
I’d go so far as to say that this is now the focal point of my large library of books and cassettes.
What exactly are they?
They’re recordings of what was possibly the first “major marketing lecture” ever held – and one that was never exceeded.
To give you a sense of how incredible this event was, the late owner of Victoria’s Secret brought his marketing crew to Joe’s lecture when the company only had two retail locations. Following the incident, Victoria’s Secret grew into a direct mail business with stores around the country.
If you look at the list of the extremely fortunate few hundred people that attended, it reads like a “who’s who” of successful business…
Trail Blazers of Portland
Steaks from Omaha
The list is endless…
This occurrence is now legendary.
It affected the lives of almost everyone who went.
He only recorded this occurrence once. This recording has just one copy in existence. It’s currently in my hands.
Joe has authorized me to sell digital versions of the cassettes. We don’t know how many or how much they will cost – that will be decided soon…
However, we will make them available to a limited number of people in the coming weeks.
Will you be among them?
Time will only tell.
Meanwhile, two short notes…
First, leave a comment below and tell us how much you’d be willing to pay for these recordings. We’ll be providing lifelong digital access to all 21 films, a massive workbook full with important materials, and more…
Next, to assist you in determining the optimal pricing, please find a copy of Joe’s original low-key sales letter, which he used to convince people to attend this seminar for several thousand dollars (in 1980s money). And they’d gladly pay that money! Remember, this was back when the most expensive marketing seminar to date was $500.
This bundle contains a 6-gig extra marketing conference with Mark Joyner, Carl Galetti, David Garfinkle, Declan Dunn, Ed Taylor, Raleigh Pinskey, Ted Nicholas, Joe Sugarman, Tom Antion, Tom Wood, Wally Bregman, Terry Corvel, and Dan Janal in addition to The Lost Sugarman Tapes.
The Triggers presentation described in the pitch letter is also included in the bonus bundle.
Although the actual pitch page has been removed due to the program’s closure, here are some pitches I discovered elsewhere:
Joe Sugarman’s Lost Tapes
I hope you were able to obtain a copy of the Joe Sugarman Triggers mp3s that were utilized as part of the prelaunch of the Lost Sugarman Tapes.
The bad news is that they’ve vanished and are no longer available.
The Lost Sugarman Tapes are finally accessible, which is fantastic news.
And for a lot less than I expected when you apply the promo code m78xc3qw.
Let me tell you the story of the Lost Sugarman Tapes if you’re not familiar with it.
Joe Sugarman is a famed direct marketer who considers himself more of an entrepreneur than a wordsmith. He possesses abilities and insights that have earned him the respect of the great and good copywriters, but Joe has created his name by selling items for himself rather than as a hired gun.
That distinguishes him from Gary Halbert, John Carlton, and Dan Kennedy, all of whom I’ve studied extensively.
While Joe Sugarman’s greatest success was in product sales, he also enjoyed teaching businesses how to construct an offer and advertise it to generate money.
He gave several high-priced lectures in the 1980s but did not capitalize on the potential to build a premium info-product. It turns out that he had one of his seminars videotaped but did nothing with it.
He indicated to author and Internet marketer Mark Joyner a few years back that he felt he had the tapes someplace. Joe had no idea where they were, but Mark was anxious to get his hands on them.
The cassettes have been discovered and restored and digitally upgraded, however they do not meet 2011 standards.
However, it is the content of the Lost Sugarman Tapes that is important.
Online access is now available to a limited number of purchasers before they are permanently removed from the market.

Can a multi-millionaire direct marketing legend teach you?
You certainly can. If you’ve heard Joe Sugarman’s Triggers mp3s, you’ll know that he has an entertaining style and approach that isn’t dependent on sleazy techniques.
Are marketing strategies from the 1980s still applicable in 2011?
Communication methods have evolved during the previous twenty to thirty years, yet this is a drop in the bucket compared to the time it takes for human psychology to evolve.
Joe Sugarman’s core teachings are still highly relevant. We just have new means to disseminate the word thanks to the Internet and social media.
Best of all, I was astounded by the pricing of the Lost Sugarman Tapes.
I guess I’ve become cynical, but I was afraid this would be another $1,997 product (the standard pricing in Internet marketing) or, at most, $997.
I wasn’t even close, as you can see if you go to The Lost Sugarman Tapes and use the promo code m78xc3qw.
Again, the audio/video quality isn’t great… We remastered them, and you should be able to follow along just fine, but don’t expect a Hollywood production! One of the recordings (tape #8) was overdubbed with an infomercial, while another finishes 6 minutes early. However, we have included entire transcripts of the contents, so nothing important has been lost.
21 Audio MP3 Files As a result, you may listen to the same information while on the road.
There are 21 transcripts. If you have problems understanding a particular segment, our transcripts of each recording will make it crystal apparent.

Joe Sugarman: Who Is He?
Joe Sugarman, dubbed the “Mail Order Maverick” by The New York Times, is a trailblazer in every way. His achievements in marketing innovation alone merit the title of legend. He now wishes to share his genius with the rest of the world.
He employed direct marketing to get as many people as possible to use the world’s first pocket calculator. As a result, the JS&A Group, Inc. was formed, which led the industry in space-age technology. Sugarman’s marketing efforts popularized the cordless phone, digital watches, and even the home computer.
Sugarman also pioneered the use of toll-free phone lines to accept credit card orders over the phone, which was unheard of at the time. Thousands of other businesses followed following after only one year of utilizing toll-free phones to accept purchases. This sparked a revolution in the retail business.
Switching from electronics to sunglasses may appear to be suicide, but Sugarman was ready for the task. His direct marketing abilities resulted in the selling of 20 million pairs of BluBlockers. What about a BluBlocker rap? The “guy on the street” is one of his long-lasting advertising concepts. This required a public display of the product to passing strangers, which was absolutely novel at the time. It’s become one of the most common infomercial gimmicks.
Joe has had tremendous success with the BluBlocker brand. He’s also done well on QVC, where he’s sold millions of dollars in a single day.
Joe Sugarman has handled the following over his remarkable career: “I reside in Maui, Hawaii. Have a property on the beach and highly desirable real estate on Maui. I used to own four airplanes before becoming a multi-engine instrument-rated commercial pilot.
Had a large collection of vehicles, including Deloreans, Ferraris, and Mercedes, and once had a stable of 12 exotic cars. Sold the aircraft and automobiles, traveled to Hawaii, purchased the Maui Weekly and served as its publisher for almost six years until selling it to the local daily newspaper.
I’ve founded multiple businesses, including BluBlocker eyewear, JS&A Group, Inc. (a marketing firm), and, more recently, Stem Cell Products (a bio-tech company) and Maui Joe Coffee (a coffee company). All of my businesses are based in Las Vegas, yet I maintain an office on Maui and use the Internet to stay in touch with the businesses I operate.
Everything I’ve done has been due to my ability to communicate, create text, and sell my items to a large audience.”
