Jin Jing Zhong’s book “Training Methods of 72 Arts of Shaolin” is devoted to the most mysterious and little-known part of Shaolin monk training. The book was published in 1934 with the blessing and direct participation of Reverend Miao Xing, the Abbot of the Shaolin Monastery and one of the greatest Shaolin fighters of all time. Training methods mentioned in the book allow for the development of supernatural talents much beyond the capabilities of the average man. Over many decades, the tactics were the foundation and heart of Shaolin fighting training, with the most secret portion tightly hidden from strangers. However, the situation altered after a massive fire in 1928 destroyed Shaolin and a large portion of its archives. A pressing issue developed about the preservation of the Shaolin tradition for future generations. Most likely, this was the driving force behind Miao Xing’s decision to divulge one of Shaolin’s most important secrets to the public…
The book includes a detailed description of the exercises and the prerequisites for doing them, as well as the principles of training philosophy for the 72 Shaolin Arts. For the first time, the book has been translated from Chinese. Hundreds of monks achieved excellent outcomes, bringing Shaolin Martial Arts prominence for all time.
