The First Aikido Friendship Display Part one of a two-tape series with Yasuo Kobayashi, Mitsugi Saotome, Kanshu Sunadomari, and Yoshio Kuroiwa lecturing.
The 1st Friendship Demonstration is one of the most renowned aikido demonstrations ever staged, including lectures by top-level shihan like as Yasuo Kobayashi, Mitsugi Saotome, Kanshu Sunadomari, Yoshio Kuroiwa, Shoji Nishio, and Morihiro Saito.
The 1985 Friendship Demonstration established a novel idea in which professors from all backgrounds and affiliations offered their gathered experience in front of a big, receptive audience.

Yasuo Kobayashi at a 1989 protest: This video features Kobayashi Sensei’s outstanding performance during the massive demonstration conducted in Tokyo to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of Kobayashi Dojos.
Mitsugi Saotome at the 1989 protest: In this fascinating video clip, Saotome Sensei and a group of his best teachers from the United States practise taijutsu and weapons skills.
This film was also shot at the Kobayashi Dojos’ 20th Anniversary Demonstration.
Part two of a two-tape package includes Shoji Nishio and Morihiro Saito’s lecture demonstrations, as well as the 1973 All-Japan Aikido Demonstration.

Bonus Film: All-Japan Aikido Demonstration in 1973
Part two also contains a unique film feature at the end of the Friendship Demonstration.
We discovered and remastered an ancient 8mm footage of the 1973 All-Japan Aikido Demonstration, which was shot 30 years ago.
Doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba, Shoji Nishio, Hiroshi Tada, Kisaburo Osawa, Sadateru Arikawa, Mitsugi Saotome, Seigo Yamaguchi, and Koichi Tohei are among the cast members.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to watch several aikido greats in their primes, some of whom have already passed away.
Morihiro Saito’s two extra films: The first film is a collection of sequences shot by Aikido Journal Editor Stanley Pranin of Morihiro Saito at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo in the summer of 1969.
In this never-before-seen footage, you will witness Saito Sensei’s remarkable teaching abilities at their pinnacle.
Saito Sensei taught in the Hombu Dojo for over 10 years, which is not well recognized.
The second film documents Saito Sensei’s performance in the 1978 All-Japan Aikido Demonstration.
His display was completely made up of iriminage methods.
The performance of Saito Sensei here exemplifies the force and accuracy of Iwama Aikido.
